The latest invention by our student trainee Alexander Weber means that our offsite employees can feel like they are attending meetings right here in person. Alexander’s invention is a telepresence robot, which can be controlled by the respective external users via a web interface, giving them direct access to our onsite meetings.
Users can see where they are going using a webcam mounted close to the ground, and communicate via the video chat function (i.e. Skype) using a tablet mounted at the appropriate height. The device will be developed and further optimized so that any practicality issues can be ironed out before the solution is deployed. Pretty cool, don’t you think?
